Hostel Territory

So we've set off to Barcelona to live the dream and open our very own hostel. We're keeping this journal online to keep everyone updated of our progress, adventures and mishaps navigating Barcelona's booming tourism industry, Spanish bureaucracy, and daily life in Catalunya.

sooWe're back at the search after yet another place falling through!! It's frustrating to a point, but then I walk out the door and realize I live in sunny beautiful Barcelona and just have to smile. Plus we've seen a few more promising places this week, so it's just a matter of having patience. We will have a hostel soon. In the meantime, we can pretend we already do on our website. www.somniohostels.com should be up and running soon thanks to Ashley and Dave's help!

Meanwhile, Lee and I are renewing our effort to make friends here (specifically of the spanish-speaking variety). So we've tried to be a social as possible, even going so far as to meet up with a group from aSmallWorld last night. It was quite a cast of characters, but there were a few very cool people. We're racking up names to add to our Cinco de Mayo party invite list.

We also got tickets to see a tennis tournament over the weekend. We sat and watched John McEnroe play almost two whole sets before realizing who he was. We were convinced by the small size of the crowd that we must be watching his brother, Joe McEnroe, or something. (his real name is Patrick) Finally we found a newspaper and figured it out. Then we were way more into it. 12 euros to watch a tennis great get run around the court like an out of shape senior was a bargain.
